“A chef must know how to balance the spices, then you’re in good hand”

Born and raised in Sri Lanka, Chef peter was a civil engineer for three years before returning to hospitality school to become a chef.

After migration to Canada in 1990, finding employment was difficult because of lacked of Canadian experiences. Later, Chef peter was hired by the Hotel Marlborough. From there he moved to Larters at St. Andrews Glof & Country Club, within six months of working peter could no longer contain his entrepreneurial sprit and opened “Taste of Sri Lanka” on Ellice Avenue. 

Nearly two decades later, Chef, Peter has relocated to a destination location on Bannatyne Avenue and he has expanded his business to include kiosks at two of Winnipeg’s popular gathering places: The Forks and CanWest Park.

Each summer. Taste of Sri lanka food trailers are a concession staple at top events like folk festival and the Red River Ex. His brand has even been franchising at Winnipeg square and Banff. 

As one of the top popular spiced fast food restaurant from more than two decades in Winnipeg, “Taste of Sri Lanka” has open their brand to public to franchise anyone who want to open a restaurant under “Taste of Sri Lanka” brand
